Perfect for the summer!
This is a 1976 Fiat 1800 Spider build as a tribute to the Fiat 124 Abarth Rally cars. The owner build it for track days and fast road touring. A lot of original Abarth parts have gone into the build. The result is simply fantastic. This is a car you can take to work or to the track and enjoy both experiences.
Benzina has taken the car for a proper test drive. Just starting it you know you are in something special. The engine starts and runs smooth immediately. Modern engine management and ITB´s gives the best of old school and new tech. The sound is rich and reminds us of the good old days of rallying. The gearbox clicks satisfying into the gears with a short throw remicent of vintage Ferraris. After a short warm up, we push the throttle to the stops. Words cannot really explain the satisfaction on gets from driving this car: It screams to the redline and punches forward hard and willingly in every gear. Handling is good but we think the car would benefit with some camber up front for track use. But for the road it is simply perfect with good spread of torque everywhere. It is easy to drive but also very tactile. The easy to raise soft-top makes the car also very practical. Yet we haven´t talked about it´s looks: The wide Cromadoras gives it a very sexy stance. The bumper delete and black details makes it hard as nails. The original 124 spider looks delicate; this is a gentleman in a suit gone to the gym.
