This is a race ready Volvo S60 Challenge, 1 of only 40 build. A rare opportunity to get a piece of Volvo race history. The car is ready to race. Some history is acquired:
The Volvo S60 Challenge was started in 2002 and our car was driven by Tobias Klintheim that first year. Chassis no 10 was in 2003 run by Peter Halén. The history after that is unknown but Arild Risse restored the car and raced with it in 2012 and 2013. Thereafter the car went into storage. The Öhlins dampers where restored and it was converted to be driven on E85.
FACTS:
Volvo S60 Challenge race cars are based on the 2.3L road going engines found in the Volvo S60 T5. The Swedish engineers refreshed the 2.3L, inline five engine with a 3-inch diameter turbo back exhaust and a racing catalytic converter. Volvo calls the engines a “sealed unit”, meaning that only a qualified Volvo race car technician & engineers can crack open the block for any adjustments. The final result at the crank was 285BHP and 300 ft. lbs of torque all coming from a FWD (Front Wheel Drive) drivetrain. As far as handling goes the S60 has Öhlins 2-way adjustable race struts & shocks with a variety of spring packages, AP-Racing 4 pot callipers up front, AP Racing 2-piece 355mm rotors, 18×8 O.Z Racing Ultraleggera wheels, Michelin Porsche Cup 24/64-18 slicks & wet tires. To put the power down to the pavement it has a quick shift Tractive AB 5-speed dogbox with straight cut gears, Tractive AB clutch type limited slip differential, Sachs 4 puck un-sprung clutch & lightened flywheel. A front splitter and rear wing came as a factory aero package.
