We found this car in a barn in southern part of Norway. So, this is a bona fide barnfind. There it had been resting for 25 years since it was taken to Norway from the Netherlands. The car was restored before it was put into storage. It has new yellow KONI shock absorbers, new overhauled 2 litre engine on overhauled Dellorto carburettors, new brakes, etc. Km on the car is only 68,000, you can really feel this when touching light switches etc. Everything is feels as "new". The original engine does not follow the car, but since Alfa did not have matching numbers, a proper 1.6 litre twincam engine is easy to find for a reasonable price – however, the two liter go much better and both are cosmetically alike.
The car has been serviced with oil change and all fluids has been changed. The car drives with no rattles or unwanted noises. The gearbox changes gears perfect with no synchromesh problems. It is wonderful to drive on a winding road, and astonishingly quiet on fast motorway driving (140 km/h)
The car is one of the very first Alfettas built. It has the early chassis number AR 11804 * 0001463. (In other words, the 1463 made). In addition to being a rare car, the early chassis number gives the car a desirability. We have ordered documentation of the colour and interior of the Alfa Romeo factory in Varese, Italy. The current body colour is 501 red and the seats are in beige leather / imitation leather.
We have not decided whether we will finish this car or sell it on as is. The car has small body blemishes that should be repaired and the passenger seat has crack damage. Technically, it works 100%. The car is exceptionally fresh considering it has been stored for such a long time. If you repaint the car, you could have one of Europe's finest Alfetta gt. It is expected that the model will rise in price as the predecessor Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT. The earliest cars are the most sought after.
The car has been thru Norwegian customs and taxed to Norway. All papers are available. So, both enrolment in Norway or export is doable without further costs. We will take it thru MOT in Norway the 14th of December and it is ready for delivering then.
