This is the car you did not know you wanted, but I promise you will. If your veins are flowing with petrol, this is just the car for you. I have to apologize for the rambling below, because that is what this car does to you.
In many ways, driving a TVRis about learning to drive again. There is neither ABS nor traction control, it is just you and the machine. The car is incredibly potent and it must simply be owned by a driver who knows what he is doing. However, the rewards are extreme. Everything is different in a TVR, but in a good way. Door handles are not visible, you open the doors with a button under the mirror. You sit racy low and the feeling of a potent race car is instantly felt. Turn around the key and it's impossible not to smile. The engine starts with a deep voice that immediately gives you associations to Le Mans and other races. Give a little throttle and you notice that the flywheel is light and the throttle response lightning fast. The sound is a mix of motorcycle and a full on Nascar racer. Absolutely amazing! Good neighbors is a must if you own a TVR.
In a world hung up in political correctness, the Chimaera is extremely refreshing. Each drive means something special you never feel just transported, but as an engaged driver: It's just as good to go cruising with as it loves winding roads. Driving on winding roads the speed climbs quickly and the sounds from exhaust system are seductive. The V8 sound never grows old. With 1060 kg weight and 320 hp this thing is fast. The gearbox is easy to work and the pedals are cooperative. It's never boring to run a TVR, and is not that exactly the point of an enthusiast car?
TVR unfortunately has a frenzied reputation for reliability. Much of this comes from poor maintenance and lack of understanding from owners. On this car it is not a worry. Most parts comes from Ford or Rover. Everything can be bought over the counter in the UK.
The frame witch is exposed to corrosion, is dismantled and treated with the best in rust protection. Engine is new with a 4.6 liter V8, modified with a hotter camshaft and new engine management. The LSD is new from Quaife. The car is owned by an enthusiast who has been in both the Alps and the Nürburgring. Enjoying his car without any problems. This is a bomb-proof layout that can easily give the Porsche mafia a bad surprise. We love this car. A wonderful brutal bulldog from Blackpool that deserves a good home.
