The beetle is a robust and reliable car. A classless vehicle that everyone loves. Therefore, it is no wonder that many people modify them to their own taste and give the car even more soul. This car is very fun to drive; with lowering and slightly wider rims, it is very reminiscent of driving a Porsche 356. The sound and power of the engine gives more than associations to Porsche fours. No wonder perhaps, since the first beetle, the Type 1, was developed by Ferdinand Porsche.
History
We sell this car on behalf of the customer.
The beetle was completely restored by the VW club in Vestfold (Norway), and given away as a prize car in 1994. The winner of the car had a collection of VWs and therefore rarely used the car. This first owner died after a few years. The car was then sold and ended up with a second owner, from whom the current owner bought the car in 2005. He must have had the car from sometime in the nineties. The car originally went in Geilo. There is a printout from Autosys with an overview of (many) owners from 1960 to 1994. Today's owner, from 2005 to d.d. has spent a lot on cosmetic details / accessories and engine. The car has been well maintained. Always parked and winter stored indoors. Never winter driven by last owner. Barely seen rain.
Cal look
This is not an original car. If you are looking for this, look no further. It was built to honor the custom style "Cal look", a custom style originating from the west coast of the United States. Today, it is reminiscent of the resto look, ie you modify the car so that it provides a modern driving experience in a classic body. This is a car with style, you can drive many miles with.

The car is registered with a 1300 cc engine, but has mostly run with a 1835 cc engine with two dual 40 mm Webers, ported tops etc., hence the low milage on the current engine. The 1835 cc engine was taken out because the flywheel came loose a couple of years ago. The engine ran well before this happened and this problem should be fairly easy to repair. The engine can possibly be sold together with the car as is, if the buyer is interested.
Extras
1300S manual four-speed gearbox with swivel axles. From newer beetle with more highway friendly gear ratio.
Shortshift gear lever from Empi.
Undercarrage
The car has written in the vehicle registration card that it is «approved lowered according to factory regulations ».
- Puma style lowered front axle
- Sway bar
- Steering damper
- Lowered a few splines on the rear.
- Original front and rear drum brakes. (Completely disassembled, lubricated, adjusted and changed brake fluid about two years ago. Pulled nicely and evenly on the MOT in May.)
- (It is easy to get the car back to normal height, possibly lowering more at the rear, if you want.)
Other info
- There are two sets of keys and a good deal of documentation about the car that can be included. Exact mileage of car and engine after restauration is unknown due to the formerly mentioned speedometer and engine swaps.
- There are a few minor paint defects and the car leaks some oil (all beetles do this).
- Further information is available from serious inquiries.
- This is a car from 1960. The car is sold as is. You have to know what you are buying. After all, “vintage cars” is a hobby.
