If you are not smiling after a drive with this Alfa, there is something seriously wrong with you. This car oozes of driving pleasure. The experience is raw, vintage and intoxicating. The snarl from the engine, the scents and the forces work together like a symphony. Each ride feels like you are riding a special stage in the Italian road race Mille Miglia.
This is exactly what it was built for. A tribute to Italian racing history and design. This is not a only a car, but a work of art. The car is certainly not original and must be purchased by a person who recognizes this. Here you need to understand what has been done and why.
It started life as a Norwegian-sold Alfa Duetto 1300 junior in 1969. After many years of use, it was found in a sad and abandoned state in a garden by Bjørn Ivar Iversen. In 2003, Iversen had seen a drawing, made by car designer Oddmund Olsen, in the Norwegian motor magazine Carburetti of a modified Duetto. Iversen who is a very good mechanic, is also fearless and creative. He decided to make the car on the drawing. A full year later, the car was ready in all its glory. A wealth of creativity was used. Here was the creative spirit of an artist. How about door handles made from parts from a cabinet from IKEA? With a short windshield and no roof, the light car with a modified engine was fast and fun. The car painted in gray metallic and wore Revolution wheels. A piece of jewelery on wheels made by a brave and enterprising car builder.
After many years of use, one of the car magazine's founders, Christer Lundem (Also owner of Benzina Vintage Car Finder), managed to buy the car from Iversen. Now the car was marked by use and again needed a makeover. However, Lundem would try to make the car my own. (It is often the case when you buy something special, that you want to make your own mark on it). Some rust was found and removed - parts were collected at various markets in Italy. It was important that the parts fit in both in terms of patina and style. Colour was changed to flat gray (Grigio Grafite 716). The interior got black roll over bars, diamond felted clothing, rebuilt fabric carpet from Alfa Bertone coupe (Specially ordered from Alfaholics), door handles from 2000 gtv, emblem from Spider Veloce in copper, Interior mirror from Alfa Giulietta 1300 Veloce, New windshield inspired by Ferrari racers. Emblem bought at a flea market in Brescia, aluminum panels at the back, new four-point harnesses. The rims are light Steel Auto painted in gold with vintage tires. New plexiglass covers on the front, handmade opener by the boot lid inspired by the classic wine opener from Italy. Small but important changes so Lundem felt it was his car. This is how Lundem had the car for two years, before today´s owner bought it from Lundem. Lundem wanted a Maserati and sold to get enough founds.
The last owner has had the car for three years, driven a lot with it without any kind of fault or operational disruption. He has asked us to sell the car, as we know its history and have contributed to it. We have to admit that it will be difficult to sell it again. It's possibly the funniest car we have ever driven. It is not practical, but gives more smiles per mile than anything else. Buy it quickly so we don´t have to buy it back. Because that is the effect it has on everyone who drives it. An Italian seductress that no one can resist.
The car is 52 years old, so we want the buyer to be both car-savvy and agree that the car is sold without any kind of warranty. We take the time to go through the car with you. That way, misunderstandings or boring incidents do not arise in retrospect.
