Unique is an abused term in connection with car sales, but this car is indeed unique. Benzina Vintage Car Finder is founded on pure car enthusiasm. We love cars that can tell a story, and are always actively looking for the very special. A normal Morgan +8 provides a phenomenal driving experience, but here you get an exciting car story as well. This is Charles Morgan's own car, imported to Norway by Roadster Square and Knut Hallan himself. If you buy this, you become an insider and a participant in Morgan's history. The car is otherwise well documented / known by the Morgan factory, and a well-filled A4 folder accompanies it.
By the way: Charles Peter Henry Morgan is the former managing director of the Morgan Motor Company, a UK car manufacturer. The grandson of the founder of the company, H.F.S. Morgan, and the son of the company's former chairman Peter Morgan, Charles Morgan joined the family firm full-time in 1985.
SPECIFICATIONS
The car's official name is Morgan Plus 8 3.9 L V8 Long Door Prototype "Ex. Charles Morgan". During production, Morgan chose to paint it in one of Ferrari's original colors "Fly Yellow". The yellow colour makes the car stand out positively from today's gray and homogenous cars. It was built in 1994 as a rolling test car for the factory. Many details differ from the production models, and have provided inspiration for Morgan models that have followed. The doors on this model, so-called "longdoor", are slightly longer than before. This makes it easier for taller people to get into the car. The undersigned is 190 cm and can enter easily. Another detail that makes life easier is the roof. This can be installed in this car in about 30 seconds. Far easier than Morgan's "button tent" which has left me wet by the side of the road. Front window The frame and window on this car have a special design, and are heated with heating wires, so that you don't get fog on the window on cold days. In addition, it has been given a special hood with a completely unique design. The wheels are elegant Morgan Center Lock, which gives the car a unique racing touch. Charles Morgan himself used the car as his "daily driver", and it was he who came up with various new ideas. Among other things, there are attachments for seat belts at the back, which made it possible for him to pick up his children from the nursery. At the end of the time as a "Works car", the headlights were changed to those that were later used on Morgan's new model Aero. You might recognize them? They are taken from the Porsche 911. Last but not least: the car has a stylish plaque on the right rear fender which confirms that this is a prototype owned by Charles Morgan. And under the hood are the signatures from countless Morgan experiences and people who are themselves car history.
THE EXPERIENCE
The car is in top condition and ready for use. So how is it to drive? I have driven several Morgan cars, but this one is very special. It is quite clear that Charles Morgan's enthusiasm has spilled over into the details. All Morgan cars provide a very special driving experience, but the experience in this car is a notch higher. It simply drives fantastically well. Behind the wheel, looking down over the hood, you feel like a racing driver from the fifties: a time characterized by enthusiasm and drive. But there's more, as you turn the key, the potent 3.9 liter V8 roars into action immediately. The five-speed gearbox (Rover R380) is precise and easy to work with. A far cry from the original Moss boxes from the sixties. The car is both easy to drive and fun. The big engine with the wonderful sound, easily moves the light car up to speed. It is impossible not to smile. People are looking for winding roads and new places to go on a trip to. This is the perfect travel partner for you together with a friend/girlfriend.
CONCLUSION
