The 1965 912 was officially only sold in Europe, making this a very rare car. It is because 1965 912s were only sold in Europe, most of the first 912s to arrive in the U.S. came via Porsche’s European delivery program, whereby U.S. citizens could take delivery of new 912 at the Porsche factory, drive it through Europe for a few weeks, and then import it to the U.S. as a used car at a tremendous tax savings compared to a new car, however many of these 1965 cars were then errantly registered as 1966 model year cars, and remain so to this day.
The 912 Registry has recovered a letter from the Porsche archives that decries all 912s made henceforth after July 1, 1965, are to be considered 1966 model year cars, however Porsche has subsequently issued Certificates of Authenticity verifying 1965 model year cars for 912s built as late as September 16, 1965.
For just one single year, Porsche let the 912 model wear the beautiful color 6402 Rubinrot (Ruby Red). The year was 1965: the last and first year with a lacquered dashboard and three sexy instruments. Porsche estimates that around 1500 cars were sold with this dashboard and very few of these were in the color Rubinrot. This makes this car both beautiful, rare and unique.
This 912 breathes a 911T to its heels. This is a happy car, the engine is strong and sounds beautiful. Winding roads evoke a smile that lasts long into the evening.
The car has just undergone a mechanical review during 2018 to 2023
The brake calipers have been overhauled and the brake fluid changed
Plugs replaced Oil and filters changed Fuel lines replaced
Carburetors re-yetted and fitted by Ole Walsig
The engine is of course matching numbers and newly overhauled for around NOK 100,000 in 2015. In addition, the car was newly painted in 2012 and at the same time the interior was restored in original black artificial leather. In 2016, it was further costed at approx. NOK 60,000 (brakes and more). In other words, you have here a car that has been inspected from top to toe. It's not mint, but not far off either.
One should be careful about calling cars an investment object, but this 912 is just that. The car has lots of documentation from new and identity confirmation (matching numbers) from Porsche is available. (Even the steel rims are matching numbers and original). This is something as rare as a well-maintained original car.
It sits in our garage waiting for a new enthusiastic owner. Serious speculators are welcome. The best thing is to see the car with your own eyes, then you and the car are sold.
You can find information about the 1965 912 here.
The car is 58 years old, therefore we want the buyer to be knowledgeable about cars and to understand that the car is being sold without any form of warranty. We take the time to go through the car with you. That way, misunderstandings or boring incidents do not arise afterwards.
We prefer telephone contact because great work pressure. Mail or SMS without full name / telephone number will not be answered. An agreement is made for an inspection in advance.
