The Lancia Montecarlo is a sports car produced by Lancia between 1975 and 1981. It features a mid-mounted engine and was designed by Pininfarina. The car boasts an incredible number of elegant design details and is an absolute joy to drive. It behaves and looks like a true Italian thoroughbred. This is an opportunity to purchase a well-refined sports car where "everything" has been done.
History
The car is originally a 1976 US model known as the Scorpion. The name change to Montecarlo in the USA was due to Chevrolet already having a model with the same name. This variant is also called the Spider due to its removable roof. The car was imported from California to Darmstadt, Germany, in 1992 by Manfred Menzel and then to Lier, Norway, in 2008 by Svenn Tore Pedersen. The original engine was a 1.8-liter with AC, and the car was painted in metallic gold. In 2021, the current owner purchased the car from Kjell Arne Johansen and undertook a comprehensive restoration and upgrade.
Engine
The engine, originally a 1.8-liter, has been replaced with a 2.0-liter engine, likely from a Fiat 131 based on the engine codes. The car is equipped with a Weber DATR 34 mm carburetor and an electronic Marelli distributor and coil, which enhances performance. The engine also features an oil cooler, which is unusual for standard Lampredi engines and may indicate that the engine has been upgraded. A service kit for the engine is included. The timing belt, replaced in 2019, should be replaced again in 2026.
Drivetrain
Five-speed manual gearbox and differential are in excellent condition.
Bodywork
New paint in Ferrari Rosso Corsa - Cromax F7269 HDC. Painted by Lakkspesialisten Grenland AS in the fall of 2021. The entire undercarriage has been externally treated with Arcanol.
Interior
Beige vinyl seats with two steering wheels included. New Bluetooth radio and speakers.
Additional Features
The car comes with the original soft top. It also includes an original Pininfarina plexiglass roof, which is extremely rare and valuable. According to an Italian enthusiast in the FB group for these cars, Pininfarina produced a small number of these (about 10?). A new soft top fabric is also included, though not yet installed.
