Unique classic with 3-liter engine and disc brakes
One of very few in the world – and the only one in Norway! Built in 1976, equipped with a powerful 3-liter BMW engine, four-wheel disc brakes, and recently overhauled. A head-turning car that delivers pure driving pleasure with vintage charm and modern reliability.

HISTORY
The Sbarro 328 Replica, unveiled at the 1974 Geneva Motor Show, went on to become the most popular Sbarro model over the following decade. It was thanks to this car that Franco Sbarro firmly established his company—transforming it from a small workshop into a true manufacturer. Among Sbarro’s many creations, the 328 Replica remains the most important model in his impressive portfolio.
Inspired by the aura and rarity of the original BMW 328, Sbarro set out to capture its spirit in a faithful reproduction—delivering period-correct sensations without the hassle of maintaining a pre-war classic. To stay as close to the original as possible, Sbarro chose BMW mechanical components. In 1974, BMW already offered a solid range of high-performance powertrains.

Base models (called "Standard") used 4-cylinder engines from the BMW 1602–2002 ti series, with power outputs of 85 hp (1602), 90 hp (1802), 100 hp (2002), or 130 hp (2002 ti). Customers could also choose 6-cylinder engines from the BMW 5 Series, ranging from 150 to 200 hp. Transmission options were equally flexible and left to the customer’s preference. The chassis, described in Sbarro’s original catalog, was a “large-section tubular frame with side-impact sandwich zones, integrated in a double polyester monocoque.” Suspension components were BMW originals, with disc brakes at the front and drums at the rear. Four-wheel disc brakes were optional—and fitted on our car.

Measuring 3.70 meters in length, the replica is slightly shorter than the original 1936 model (3.90 meters). Wheelbase and width remain unchanged. The seats are molded into the body but were also available with individual adjustability upon request. The body is made of polyester—one of Sbarro’s trademarks. Each car was custom-built with a wide range of options, making every example unique. Reliable production data is hard to come by, due to the level of customization.

OUR CAR
This is the top-spec version with the 3-liter engine and disc brakes on all four wheels. It was built in 1976 and purchased from a Swiss businessman on October 27, 2000, before being imported to Norway. The car has just been serviced and is registered on Norwegian plates—ready to be enjoyed.

MECHANICALS & COSMETICS
The car is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. Its lightweight construction paired with a powerful engine makes it fast, exciting, and fun to drive. It sounds like a genuine 1930s race car—but drives like a 1970s BMW. It is the only Sbarro 328 Replica in Norway, and it draws attention wherever it goes. The paint and interior are in great original condition. Everyone loves it.
