The Alfa Romeo 1750 GTAm is not just a car, it’s a heartbeat from the golden age of racing. Born at the turn of the 1970s, when touring car grids thundered with mechanical fury and national pride, the GTAm stood as Alfa Romeo’s uncompromising answer to BMW and Ford. Developed by Autodelta, Alfa’s racing division, the GTAm began life as a humble 1750 GTV before being transformed into a weapon of precision and passion.
Beneath its flared arches and aggressive stance lived a twin-cam engine enlarged to two liters and fed by mechanical fuel injection, producing up to 240 horsepower, a staggering figure for the era. The body was lightened with glassfiber and plexiglass, the suspension widened and tuned for war, and the result was a machine that danced through corners with the balance only an Alfa could possess.
On the racetrack, the GTAm became a legend almost overnight. It dominated the European Touring Car Championship in 1970 and 1971, humbling rivals and cementing Alfa’s reputation as a master of soulful performance.
