We are selling this Lotus Europa from an estate. The car was last registered in Norway in 1985. It was used in racing by the deceased owner in the 80´s and early 90´s and has been in storage since then. The extremely low mileage is believed to be correct. However, we have very limited knowledge of the history and cannot guarantee anything on this car, you must buy at your own risk as the last owner has passed away. Racer for the streets
This is a street registered race car. Testers of the time described the handling as the closest you came to a formula car. You are not driving a Lotus Europa, you are wearing it. Everything is made according to Colin Chapman's ethos, “Simplify, then add lightness”. This car oozes vintage race history. It looks exactly as it did from its last race.
History
We have little documentation on the car apart from the service booklet and some Lotus books that accompany the car. As far as we know, the car has only one owner. (It is re-registered on the deceased's daughter). Bought new in England, probably delivered at the London Sports Car Center in London. The car has been used for racing in Sweden in the 80s, last race probably 1991. See stickers in the windshield. Mileage is assumed to be correct. Deregistered since 1985. Not driven for very many years, before start in 2021. Needs full review of all mechanics. Car runs a video can be sent to serious inquiries.
What has been done with the car in later years:
2021:
- New battery, fuel hoses etc. Start-up, adjusted carburettors
- Re installed gearbox in connection with moving the car.
2015 (?):
- Cleaned and painted petrol tanks
- Purchased 5-speed gearbox, Renault 365. Last owner had this rebuilt.
2002-2003:
- Receipts for brake parts etc. Installed steel-wound brake hoses etc.

Body
It was delivered by Lotus in yellow. Repainted in unoriginal yellow colour. The paint is worn. Since this is an old racing car, we think the patina is charming. We would only clean and polish the body and leave it as it is. Two sets of original bumpers etc. available for the car.
Interior
Seats and carpet are in very good condition. Wood on the dashboard is worn, but everything is correct. We wanted to keep it as is. Comes with new wood panel for dashboard and a new windshield.
Engine
Tuned Lotus / Ford DOHC 14 with two Dellorto 40 mm DCOE carburators and ISKY camchafts. Engine is assumed to be newly overhauled, starts and runs without any unwanted noises, but should be picked apart to be absolutely sure that everything is in order. Petrol hoses have been replaced and carburetors have been synchronized. Ignition is adjusted. New plugs. Starts easily.
Gearbox & transmission
There is a four-speed gearbox in the car (That leaks oil) and a new clutch. For a small extra fee, a five-speed box can be included.
Undercarriage
New brakes with a little surface storage rust.
New brake hoses
Conclusion
This car can be prepared for road use or track with little work. However, we would go through the car to make sure everything was in order. You do not have to buy much parts to get the car finished. This is probably one of the Lotus Europas that has traveled the least number of kilometers in the world. The car is not sold to people who are not mechanically knowledgeable or possibly have the finances to let someone restore it.
The car is 52 years old and the owner has passed away, so we want the buyer to be both car-savvy and agree that the car is sold without any kind of warranty. We take the time to go through the car with you. That way, misunderstandings or boring incidents do not occur in retrospect.
